The Classic: Neuschwanstein Castle and Linderhof Palace Tour

General itinerary:

8.30 am – Pick up from your hotel or where you would like us to pick you up 

9.45 Arrival in Garmisch, an alpine village at the foot of Zugspitze, Germany’s tallest mountain. We will take you to an amazing spot for a great photo and then proceed to the heart of Garmisch’s adjacent and sister village of Partenkirchen.

11.00 Drive to Ettal, a 14th century monastery with a spectacular baroque basilica, which we can view.

11.45 Drive to Linderhof Palace and its amazing gardens, and time for the optional tour of the Linderhof Palace interior.

13.00 Drive to a gorgeous alpine lake in Austria (yes, we will cross borders on this day!)

13.30 Lunchtime at a beautiful lakeside restaurant with an amazing view 

14.15  back to Germany and continue traveling on our spectacular alpine road to world-famous Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau castles.

15.00 either walk up to the Castle or alternatively, we can take the bus up – not in winter time

15.35 10 min walk to Castle entrance

15.55 – tour of Neuschwanstein Castle interior

16.45 walk back to the car, dropping by spectacular Alpsee and good view at Hohenschwangau Castle

17.30 departure for your drive back to Munich

19.00 – 19.30 Arrival back at the hotel or pickup point

• 1 hour hike through a spectacular waterfall gorge (5 EUR p.p.)
• visiting Oberammergau village, where the famous Passion Plays are taking place every 7 years (half hour, no extra costs)
• world’s longest alpine roller coaster (thrilling 6 minute downhill ride) – all weather experience (max 1 hour, 11 EUR p.p.)
• lush swim in an alpine lake for up to 30 min (no extra costs, of course)
• enjoy a tandem paraglide ride (60-90 mins, 150 EUR p.p.)

Of course, there is not enough time to do all of these fun experiences in one single day at once. Consult with your tour guide, what you would like to do in exchange for a different activit/location on your tour.

After we picked you up from your hotel, we will go to Garmisch an alpine village at the foot of Germany’s tallest mountain and then go to Partenkirchen, Garmisch’s adjacent sister village. You will also get the opportunity so visit a 14th century monastery with a spectacular baroque basilica. 

Later on, we go to Linderhof Palace and its amazing gardens.

On this unforgettable day, we will cross borders to Austria and visit a pristine alpine lake and have lunch in a scenic lakeside restaurant. We will travel a spectacular alpine road until we  reach world famous Neuschwanstein Castle.

Upon arrival in the scenic Bavarian village of Schwangau, we will break away from the crowds of tourists and give you a local experience.  With amazing views of Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau castle, and the opportunity to dip into a pristine Alpine lake for a swim, this is a trip to remember. 

You can take a leisurely stroll along the footpath, enjoying Schwangau like a local. The Alpine views will not disappoint and the Bavarian countryside will leave you feeling relaxed. 

If you wish, your guide will take you on a rewarding hike to Marienbrücke for unprecedented views of Neuschwanstein Castle before helping you skip the lines to the castle that famously inspired Walt Disney. If you are unable to participate in the hike, you will be able to book a local bus.  Upon arriving at the expansive courtyard of Neuschwanstein Castle, you’ll be ready for a thirty-five-minute tour of the interior that will no doubt leave you speechless.

Please remember to bring a rain jacket just in case, no matter what the weather is like in Munich when you leave your hotel in the morning. On warm summer days, we also break for a swim at a wonderful alpine lake. If this sounds like fun to you come prepared and bring your swimsuit!
