These destinations are located south-east of Munich, so you can combine two out of the three options. Also, it is possible to spend a full day in either Salzburg or Berchtesgaden. This is going to be your day, and we can customize it according to your wishes even on the day of the tour – just consult with your guide, and they will make possible what is possible. We can even squeeze in an extra activity for an extra fee (mostly 100 EUR), since the duration of the tour would be extended to the late evening.
Now, here are the most popular options for you:
Herrenchiemsee Castle – this option takes half a day and includes taking a ferry from majestic lake Chiemsee (we locals call it the „Bavarian Sea“). We will go to a copy version of the famous palace of Versailles, and it is located on an island. You can combine this module with either a half day in Berchtesgaden and even a visit to the Eagle’s Nest or take a memorable boat ride across spectacular alpine lake Königssee (see below). Alternatively, you can spend half a day in Salzburg
Salzburg (Austria) – a full or half day in the charming UNESCO World Heritage and city of Salzburg. The old city center and sites around are an absolute must see, especially if you are there the first time (you will want to come back – promise !). We can walk you through the historic old town. This can be as briefly as two hours or even an entire day with highlights like a „Sound of Music“ tour and a visit to lovely Hellabrunn Palace. There is also an amazing fortress overlooking the old town and the famous nearby Lake District, if you want to go for a full day. Just let us know (even on the day of the tour) how you would like to spend your day and time.
Berchtesgaden National Park, Eagle’s Nest – Berchtesgaden National Park is surrounded by mountains and borders with Austria. Adolf Hitler chose this area to spend time in his famed house Kehlstein, known as Eagles’s Nest on top of Mount Kehlstein. The view from there is breathtakingly spectacular (depending of weather, of course). This trip takes around 3 hours, so you can opt for a short visit to either Salzburg or Herrenchiemsee Castle on the same day. Alternatively, you may prefer to go on a scenic boat ride on spectacular alpine lake Königssee, surrounded by majestic mountains and beautiful views to the old (12th century) monastery St. Bartholomew. There you can stop for a meal and or drink on Earth’s most idyllic beer garden.
So many choices – hard to decide ? Of course, we can take you out for more days in a row 🙂
At 8.30 am we will pick you up from your hotel or where you are staying in Munich. After a good 11 hours, between 7.00 0r 7.30 pm we will return you there. Alternatively, we could leave you in Salzburg at the end of your tour, and you can continue your travels from there.
8.30 am. Of course, we are flexible, if you wish to leave at a different time and adjust the itinerary accordingly.

Great tour – what a day !!
Best way to see the Alps
We booked a private coach tour for our family of 5 on holiday for Christmas. Rosie tours was extremely helpful in setting up the tour reservation. Our trip consisted of a private van pickup at the hotel followed by a drive through scenic Bavaria to the extraordinary Herrenchiemsee Castle. After a good hike around the grounds, we had our tour. Marc gave great background and running commentary. We then departed for Salzburg via Berchtesgaden. The hike on the grounds running in the snow was just what our Dubai based family needed. Incredible scenery on some back roads we simply would not have found ourselves with GPS and a rental car.
Salzburg, with all its shops and Christmas market was exactly what we had hoped for. After all that fresh, cold air and walking, the weinerschnitzel and desserts were incredible and did not last long.
On the ride to the hotel, Marc was extremely helpful in giving us tips for the rest of our trip.
All in all, a wonderful, unforgettable experience that was worth every penny. We would also highly reccomend Marc, who was a most delightful and remarkable host. 😉
